Why Does A Bishop Need A Palace? St Davids Bishop’s Palace.

Llys yr Esgob Tyddewi in the Welsh tongue is quite an impressive ruined medieval palace in Pembrokeshire, Wales, slap bang next to St Davids Cathedral in the city of St Davids. I think there might be a theme here with regards to the naming of things. The ruins we see in this film date from the 13th and 14th centuries but the site was in use as early as the 6th century. Saint David is the patron saint of Wales.

St Davids is the smallest city in the UK covering an area of only 0.23 square miles or 0.60 square kilometres. It only achieved its city status because it has a cathedral.
